    Trying out my new pens today and, ooo, those Tombow brush pens are so smooth to use. Very different from the scratchy extra fine colored pens I've been using. I can see why so many people like them!

    The green metallic gel pen is almost too metallic to even see the green! I am using it as a shiny patina copper color which seems to work ok.

    In this coloring book, I've really been using metallics as the neutral or background color. The ones you don't notice.

    For example, on this page, the sky is a metallic grey. The water is a metallic blue. The frame circle is a metallic pink. The decorative vine berries are a metallic purple, and the vine leaves are a metallic green. The flame is metallic orange.

    The more saturated non-metallic colors then POP and make you notice them more.

    I like how I shaded the pears in that fruit bowl, but not the "yellow" i used for the lemons. 🫤 Oh well. It is just for fun.

    An in-progress page. I used my new Tombow green brush pen on the trees behind the house. The new green gel pen is the metallic lantern structure.

    I've found my favorite parts of this coloring book are the stone brick and roof shingle patterns. It is just satisfying to find a set of 3 colors and methodically color in the pattern. Then outline it.

    My second favorite part are the vine leaves, flowers, cats, and birds.

    My least favorite are the flat house colors. 😅

    I have to go back to the office 3x a week starting tomorrow. I've been thinking about what food and snacks to bring. What jacket to leave there (office temp is set to 20C which can feel chilly). What mugs to leave there.

    I have to prepare my laptop bag for tomorrow. 😬

    I have not decided yet if I will bring a coloring book. I am self-conscious about using them during work calls. But I was also self-conscious about playing matching games on my phone during work calls. (They help me listen.)
