Just watched "Crime 101", which was a solid, slower burning heist flick.

But my God, the cinematography/color grade were gorgeous. If there's such a thing as a "look" that I love it's this. And "Sisu".

Took a trip to Chicago to see HAYLA. Third time seeing her in just over a year and she never disappoints. Her new album, “DARK,” is less EDM but it’s her voice that makes the songs magical, not the song style. She still sang all of her EDM hits, though. Had a blast jumping around. Closest I’ve ever been to the speakers at a concert (thank goodness for ear protection). The bass vibrating through me was euphoric.

Now the only issue is a question of workflow: a lot of times I will keep my reverb/delay the same, but change from a clean to a dirty sound; or I might want to go from a dry distortion to a wet one on the fly. The problem on the nano cortex is that the signal chain is predetermined on a preset basis, which means that to do that you have to have a whole separate preset. (5/6)

So yesterday I decided to see how a #NeuralDSP capture sounds, to see if it would be viable to just use the #NanoCortex for say fly dates.

I captured my main rhythm sound on the IRX a couple of times, adjusting the signal gain going into the NC, until the results were free of artifacts. Each capture sounded subtly different—not sure why—but in the end it is insanely good. (1/6)

The other thing that's really interesting is that the capture responds almost identically to the volume knob on the guitar, and you can adjust the gain on the NC as if it were a gain knob on the amp, and it cleans up the same way too. (3/6)

Finally, using my midi rig and the oscillator devices Hydra4X loop switcher, I was able to create an A/B switching capability on my pedal board so I was able to compare the sounds through my cab at sound check yesterday, and the truth is that they're basically indistinguishable, especially in a live context. In headphones, with no cabinet IR (i.e. straight into the desk sound) you can tell that there is a subtle difference in the topmost frequencies (in the "fizz") of the distortion, with the analog one being a little smoother. However, once you throw on a cab IR the two are pretty indistinguishable— throw a bit more treble or a little less bass on to get them to match. (2/6)
