Got a Macbook Pro that's a few years old? Get yourself a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver, open it up, clean the fans. Enjoy a quieter and much cooler laptop.
There's a handy guide on iFixit for that. Should have done this much sooner

So this is what everyone in China talks about these days - at least it wasn't made with AI
I see all those Assassin's Creed Resynced celebratory posts, and I'd love to join in as my team worked on it in Singapore. But at the same time people from partner studios are getting laid off, and at least for me, this really sours the mood.
It's this "it's just business" tone-deafness that really makes me dislike how corporate the industry has become. Same shit show over at MS when they announce how awesome their next Fallout and Elder Scrolls are gonna be!
Return to the Office, sit in your chair, it’s good for collaboration, they said… also: cancer

If Kafka would live today, he'd probably write about AI optimized, automated processes, like broken apps and endless phone loops with AI agents that mercilessly process you through the system, without any human in sight to rescue from the madness some MBA consultants force on humanity in their mad quest for "efficiencies"
If you think MS Teams is shit, have you tried the Teams mobile app yet? (hurr hurr)
working with Meta's software is even more depressing than working with Microsoft's software.... oh wait, I'm working with both:/
Really, Meta should just rename itself, suggestions "Oops, something's not right, Inc." or "Something went wrong, Inc." ... but better hurry, MS might claim the later name for itself
Liquid Glass still looks like shite, just sayin’
What do you write on a greeting card to yourself?
Advice: If you're an Indie, there's NOTHING, except money, IP and resources, AAA has on you.
They're not better, more creative, better organized, better aligned just because they're big. I dare say, the opposite is just as likely, because they're big.
What you can do: use proper project management. Track time - esp. where it's wasted. Track quality. Track iterations. Automate where it makes an impact. Be data driven, but also speak face to face. Be creative and consider risk/reward.
And production discipline? It only looks like this because it's okay to liberally cut and throw "will not fix" labels on those Jiras.
Then at the end it's a mad scramble to fix the worst, push as much in the day 0-patch and cross your fingers.
This is also directly related to quality standards, alignment and vision.
And don't get me started on quality standards. Does your art pipeline have technical reviews... after modeling? After rigging? After skinning? You'd be surprised how many studios have pretty much 0 QC in their art pipeline except for the most generic mesh and naming checks in their exporters.
Otherwise it's still old school "inspection" (i.e. "Testers"). The stuff that everyone in manufacturing agrees is the bare minimum. Like when you make cheap widgets - not a high tech product.
seriously, I think aligning a small team is a lot easier than aligning big ones. The "too many cooks" problem is very much alive in AAA.
And the opposite too, a lot of people who aren't aligned because they're too busy to care.
Vision? Keeps changing. Sometimes till the end. Often due to alignment or "focus groups", investors, "external feedback", you name it. Or sometimes the game director just has a bad day...
Guy on LinkedIn: "What to copy from AAA (as indie): Production discipline, Quality Standards, Team Alignment, Clear Vision". dude, have you looked at AAA lately?
If there's one thing, as indie, you might want to copy from AAA then it's all the confidence in what you're doing. You're big fucking AAA! You're never wrong! And if you were, nobody can afford to change the marketing strategy and contract with your publisher. Only forward! And stop questioning yourself all the time! /s
Is it normal that people go to a Jazz club and then keep talking over the live music all the time without pause?
I've never been to a jazz club in the US, but maybe that's just what you do there and it's totally normal?
In a surprise move, Donald J Trump joins the Iranian side.
Why can't Windows not even shut down properly?
I already told it via reg edit to kill everything with prejudice to just shut the fuck down. But no. Windows won't do that because some random useless shite process scares the big OS and it won't turn off the computer because of that. Good luck saving energy this way (and I would turn on auto sleep if waking up from it weren't such a shitshow)
There's something weird about US toilets... The USS Gerald R. Ford's toilets are clogged, the Artemis's toilets are clogged, and when I lived in Florida, my toilet would also get clogged - I even had a plunger nearby, like in one of those (also US) cartoons
