I'm glad I'm quite profoundly poorly at the moment. Not having to deal with any of that is quite nice, really.

Had a proper, full-on snotty emotional breakdown cry this afternoon. I've been running on empty for too long, having gone through the last few years with at least one major traumatic event each year.

2021 Mental breakdown
2022 Parents both ill, I have hip problems
2023 Right hip breaks down, replaced
2024 Diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, chemo etc
2025 mum dies, left hip starts trouble
2026 dad dies, left hip breaks down, needs replacing

I have woken up from a really good sleep, to find myself not only a year older but over two years post a diagnosis of "you are very poorly and without immediate aggressive treatment you will die in a few months".

After a somewhat restless night, the results are in:
My hip pain is not additional cancer 🎺 🎉
My hip is, in fact, completely fooked. Burgered. Knackered. Bone-on-bone, some of the bones around it are bruised & swollen 🤢 😫 🦴 and it needs "expedited replacement".
However, THANK FUCK for the NHS because I'm seeing a consultant surgeon on Friday. This is astonishingly fast, and I am here for it!
Meanwhile, it still bloody hurts...
Right, it's time to sleep.
For tomorrow I rise, to see my oncologist and find out what the wonders of modern medical imaging have revealed about my predicament which requires morphine to keep the pain down (and even then, not completely).
Not many people would say this out loud: I hope it's severe arthritis.
That, and not further travels of my cancer.

Doing an awful lot of composing then deleting relevant replies to threads this week. The defensive part of my brain is to the fore, the reasons for which I don't fully understand.
One thing that is irking me a bit though is the volume of stuff from Other Sites being quoted, linked or screenshots thereof posted where the incident is to go "MY GOD DID YOU SEE THIS?". It only perpetuates the eyeballs and clicks, so maybe stop before doing so, eh?
Nice stuff is of course still very welcome.
