Always this talk about needing a proper workbench to do hand planing...

Na des is jo a super Idee.
(Dripping with sarcasm.)

Still very proud of my new tele-style thinline: I have found a great way to place the string ferrules in the body so that they are flush with the body but also it looks neat and is relatively easy to do.

(I find this especially helpful with a combination of wood (like in this case ash and maple) since they take the oil very differently.) 3/3

Finally assembling a guitar I have been working on for months (on and off, of course) and strumming the first amplified chord is such a pleasure.
Semi-hollow ash, maple top, nice hardware. Old Squier Classic Vibe 50s neck with the thick(!) lacquer removed from the board itself, I like a bare board but wanted maple. Fender Vintage 50 pickups, we'll see how those turn out, I'm not a big pickup connoisseur.

So what I do nowadays is to spread the oil very generously with a rag and then check in every 15 to 20 minutes to spread oil where it has already soaked in.
I then proceed with those checkins until the oil gets sticky and then I polish it of with a kitchen towel (that I then spread out outside, of course).
This makes sure that I don't miss the time when it gets too polymerized to rub of properly anymore and it also gives me a very even penetration. 2/3

The nice thing when working with linseed oil (besides all the other advantages like not needing turpentine to clean your tools or not needing to use a respirator) is that you can spread it with your fingers.
This gives you a great feel for any spots that need more oil and you don't have any rugs to take care of. (Also it smells great.) 1/3

This is the first time I manged to drill perfectly aligned holes for the ferrules in a string-through body.

Used a piece of straight-edged wood to slide along a drill-helper so the holes are aligned and at a precise 90 degree angle.
Used a rule and a marking on the helper to slide along the helper precisely every 11mm.

I love it when I can make the result more (much more!) precise and still use my plain woodworking tools. Thanks https://paulsellers.com/.

Das passiert wenn man nicht checkt dass ein B kein ẞ ist.
This happens if you don't notice the difference between a capital B and a capital German "sharp S", i.e. ẞ.

Jez, ruining even nice Scotland for the bloddy AI stuff? For sure not.
Stop the proposed AI data centre near Auchtertool, Fife.
One of the world’s largest AI data centres is being planned next to Auchtertool village in Fife, Scotland. The height of six double decker buses and length of 100 football pitches. An estimated 20% of Scotland’s energy will be consumed by this.

Yep. I have never loved any smart watch more than my original Pebble and now my new Pebble Time 2 shapes up to be equally enjoyable.

Okay, so I really like to repair stuff.
But our 28 year old iron would need a replacement ironing surface, new thermostat and the housing is cracked as well.
It has served us (first me and now for 21 years me and my wife) well.
Thanks iron.
