Bonus points: They gave us a whole two more days notice than they were required to by Medicare. Medicare only requires a three day notice, they gave us a whole five.

So. My dad has been living in an assisted care facility for months now, and can barely take care of himself. He needs constant care for things like changing his catheter and flushing it out regularly. When he was home before this, he would call an ambulance to take him to the hospital almost weekly for catheter issues.

Welp, his Medicare coverage for life is running out in 3 days. They want to either dump him on us to take care of, or eat up his entire income and put a lien on our house, because this place he's in costs $10k per month.

We already depend on this income to live in our house.

I guess it's time to look into moving out of the country to some place that will just give guaranteed care for life? #medicalbills #americasucks

Subtoot: I hear people wringing their hands about heat pumps and induction ranges again. Sure, subsidize our entire install procedure. Also replace all our cookware with induction cookware. And we'll give you some newly useless cast iron cookware.

I find it hilarious that the internal resource filename for Orbital Tumbling in Fall Guys, the Season 8 (overall) / Season "2" (reboot numbering) Race theme, is called "Cheap Ethics". #fallguys #fallguysgame

Fuck Uber Eats' complaint system. They want photographic evidence. Too bad, I ate the meal before filing the complaint. I guess if I enjoyed myself, it doesn't matter if the order was wrong. #uber #ubereats

Why do people keep using Substack?

I am officially sticking my head in the sand. It's better for my outlook on reality this way. Seeing posts of doom and gloom just increases my desire to burn it all to the ground. But this is a post-9pm opinion, so feel free to discount it.

Stupid Touch ID iPhone. My mom can't use that crap because her finger tips are so worn that they're practically glass smooth. #touchid #iphone

Jesus, Google is absolutely useless. I can't find any pages whatsoever on the sudo config option, passwd_timeout. You know, the one that configures how long it will sit there with a password prompt on the screen before deciding, "timeout" and self terminating in failure. I had to find the post outlining its use on the Arch wiki for sudo, because of course, every post on Google about sudo timeout deals with the timestamp_timeout, or period before it will require a password again on invocation.

Setting the former to 0 in sudoers or a sudoers.d file will prevent it from self terminating if you, say, leave a terminal based update process running for hours and forget about it, only to notice it again later.

What could possibly go wrong with unfettered access to whatever drugs you could possibly desire, with no money changing hands, and no prescriptions required? I'm willing to live with the consequences of anarcho space communism.

For some reason, this rendition of Greensleeves makes me feel nostalgic…
