Heads up café friends: I had to turn off the form for joining the instance since it got a dozen automated spam registration per day. Still, anyone that qualifies can just drop and email at admin@[instance name] and I'll add them up. Incidentally, feel free to spread the word with anyone you like and should be on the fediverse. We have capacity to spare.
If you're using AI to make content you're saving time and money but you're making shitty content. If you can't see the shittyness of the content, it's all the more reason you shouldn't be doing it.

When normal people show up to mastodon
Incidentally, this is the interview. Surprisingly insightful! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04zF3Y4kRWA
Interesting point I heard in an interview with a voice actor. He mentioned his work is not that hard in the moment because he has 25 years of experience and knows exactly what the writers want from him. He navigates it through his deep understanding of shows, writers and audiences. I feel that maps out beautifully to game translation. People always focus on characters and puns and funny accents. Which are important but fall inside a larger meta level of knowing what the real intention behind those words. Which -say- tells you how a large character in a narrative game has a lot of leeway for characterization, while a quip from an NPC in a tutorial should stay light and UI should be as unobtrusive as possible. I'm here to serve the game.
*He said, after delivering said changes scribbled in pen. On an upside-down PDF*
Does anyone else get irrationally annoyed when some client's accounting dept comes back asking pointless changes to the invoices?
"Oh, you dated this September 25 but it should now be at least September 30, also there's a 2 cent difference on PO654687 and..."
Dude, my work ended at delivery, you're just standing in the way between me and my money. Just pay what I asked as soon as you physically can, it's not that complicated.

The website seems safe, since the EFF is involved. As for the targets, it's paradoxical to volunteer your email address to have it removed, but these are the terms of the law...
If you are getting a fair amount of professional spam, I found this service oddly liberating https://optout.iamnottheproduct.com/app#queue
At some point, during the transformation of LinkedIN from a sleepy Rolodex to a social media for the worst people in the world, my email got vacuumed up by some data broker and I've been getting weekly cold messages (with follow-up requests, gotta love those) for years.
This site is a glorious way to turn the tables: it lets you send data privacy takedowns to data brokers in batches of 100 emails per time.
Out of these, about 4/5 seem to actually hit the target (true spam quotas!) which is honestly a delightful little hobby.
And yes, spam has steadily reduced since 😊

Today marks 34 continuous days where Tokyo has seen rain. That's the longest period recorded since 1876, and breaks the record set in 2019. Thought we had a break last Thursday but it must have rained at some point over the whole course of the 24 hours. weathernews.jp/news/202609/...

Fellow nerds, my phone broke and I need a new one.
I don't game on it, I only install the apps I'm forced to, mostly it's just a browser with GPS and photos for my hikes.
So I want the cheapest thing that's getting security updates, and that appears to be a refurbished Google Pixel 7a with new battery at 30,000 JPY (167 EUR).
Am I correct in that assessment?
So the localization reference becomes a "Sponsored by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce" joke and we move on. Sorry to cut an actual localization joke, but that's not like ANY of this works 😅
My game makes a reference to the city of Liverpool, then cuts aside to a joke about how hard it will be to localize. Dude, Liverpool is Liverpool, we just translate it. Did you think we'd reset everything in Naples?
gaming discourse is often so frustrating because you have two groups of people
and both of them share opinions on the same games
