    I think there will be significant obstacles everywhere, though. If you're concerned about others being able to reach you if they leave promptly, affordability could be a key factor. Any flight across the Pacific could be out of reach.

    "Just leave the US" is like "just get a job" - easy to say, difficult to do, and often used to oversimplify and trivialize problems faced by other people to deny their reality.

    @stuart_j_whitmore @mwl Yeah those breezy "Travel and Leisure" articles like "the ten best places for US retirees” are usually tropical US territories like Guam or Saipan that fail to mention the ridiculous cost of living.

    Moving to another country as a US citizen with no Commonwealth or ancestral path to foreign residence is nearly impossible unless you can throw a few million $ into the equation, aside from maybe Mexico and a few other LATAM countries.

    As a Jew I could move to Israel, but hell no, not now, and I have no proof of any lneage.
