Like, he's staying at a B&B? Are the bathrooms en suite or shared? Has he been having breakfast in a shared dining room every morning and potentially contaminated the breakfast room. Where in Italy is this and what has he been doing with his days there?
Frankly, everyone in that bar and anywhere else he went should be slammed into quarantine too, but authorities are pretending that this virus doesn't have pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic spread at this point.
The guy was on the same flight to South Africa as the wife of the man who was patient zero. She was severely ill while traveling and died in South Africa. The dingbat basically continued to play tourist and was staying at a B&B in Italy and apparently had hooked up with someone who has now been forced to quarantine along with him (because she is most definitely a close contact of him).
It's possible that if Hantavirus is transmissible before start of symptoms, or can spread asymptomatically that this individual just made contacts out of everyone who was in that bar when they were, as well as everyone who was in there after, because Hantavirus spreads through saliva and fecal matter. It contaminates environments, not just the air.
Yeah, remember what I said about how if you're going to do quarantine, you need it to be mandatory, preferably at a purpose built facility which individually isolates all who've been potentially infected (a whole bunch of little cabins in a field is near perfect). Well, a Brit who was supposed to be under quarantine was found to be out drinking at a bar instead.
I feel like juries should be able to return a verdict that is more than not guilty. They should be able to return a verdict of something like "malicious persecution" where the state is required to pay the defendant's attorney fees plus some sort of punitive rate for every day they spent in jail.
Covid was the dress rehearsal and we failed it, miserably. I don't know what will come of H5N1, but everything we know is very concerning and we aren't seeing enough "urgency of now" from governmental sources in averting/mitigating what could be a very high consequence epidemic if it gets into humans and gains transmission fitness there.
Pasteurization likely inactivates the virus, but people also do stupid stuff like drink unpasteurized milk, and we've also got a ton of human beings working closely with these ~10 million animals. Seems very likely to me at this point that this virus jumps to humans. We should be doing everything possible to mass manufacture vaccine, not for avian/poultry use, but for the human population.
This is a genocide by intentional starvation.
The seven killed are from Australia, Poland, UK, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, and Palestine.
Tomorrow, I'm making phone calls to my federal representatives asking them to end our complicity in Israel's war crimes and end all arms shipments.
Today, US supplied arms likely killed a US citizen.
The IDF has killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers traveling in a convoy of three vehicles. World Central Kitchen aid workers are clearly identified by their clothing and their vehicles always contain highly visible large logos. This isn't imo a mistake. They were targeted.

World Central Kitchen is pausing all operations in the region.
Lets start with the box. It is seriously heavy weight cardboard. Mine came with two tight plastic straps which I had to cut off. The box is very well sealed with some sort of hotglue/wax and was difficult to pry open. The box actually has a bursting strength printed on it. It contains batch numbers and a packaging date. The food is designed to stay edible for 3 years across a wide range of temperatures. There is also some sort of spoilage sensor on the side.
So, I ordered a box of Humanitarian Daily Rations off Amazon and they arrived tonight. These are designed by the same people that make MREs for the US military. They're designed to meet all the caloric and nutritional needs for human survival for a day, and contain only foods which meet known religious dietary restrictions around the world. They're meant specifically for dire relief missions and a lot goes into making them fit for that purpose.
To those wondering why Biobot has not updated its nationwide Covid wastewater monitoring page in over two weeks, the answer is simple. The CDC canceled its contract.
Wastewater monitoring has been the most timely and relevant source of Covid community levels and variant tracking we have and the CDC appears to have killed it without the press taking much notice.
They gave a contract to Google, but I very much doubt it will be as public or as easy to interpret as Biobot's.
