One of several games I would so like to get into, largely because of the art, but don't have the money, time, or (probably) mental energy for.

I think it's also the nature of the game — too vast and ungainly to get your arms around. If there were a more limited pool of cards that were immediately accessible and learnable, then maybe.

In the meantime, enjoying this feed. Beautiful stuff to look at.

Read something the other day that kinda stuck with me:

“People won’t swim in a pool with a corpse in it but most people do wanna swim in the ocean that definitely has corpses in it. So there is a water to corpse ratio that makes it acceptable”

Very tempted to do some Warner Archive blind-buys.

#Chelsea...

Why must it be this way? Why must we always carry on like a struggling lower-table team? So brittle. Embarrassing.

Cesar Azpilicueta back at the Bridge! 💙

He’ll be playing in the Legends match this March! 👀

#Chelsea. Damn it. You HAVE TO win games against lower ranked teams.

I wish chess bots were a little more subtle when it comes to playing at low strength. The way they do it — playing well for twenty moves and then playing three of the worst possible moves in a row — has the effect of making you feel much dumber. Not to mention collapsing the suspension of disbelief, as it were.

Here's a green anole. He's not really doing anything particularly cute, but LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!!

I can tell he's a he because of the flap of skin under his throat. That's his dewlap, and he can extend it to a large, bright red semicircle. This is the sort of thing that impresses the ladies if you're an anole - that and showing off your pushup routine. Anoles are great at doing pushups; they will often do a demonstration.

Also, they're crazy smart, and they handily outperform rodents and songbirds on several animal cognition tests. They can learn new tricks by watching other animals do them, learn to manipulate objects using their snouts or mouths, and are *extremely* adaptable. It turns out that even if your brain is the size of a peppercorn, living in tree canopies and competing for your main food source with birds that can kill you, you'll end up with an extremely well-optimized peppercorn.

I'm basing the following on a sample size of one — myself, but I imagine it's true of most people with good musical ears... it's interesting that hearing non-pitched sound at the beginning of a song you know well — drums, a count-off, sound effects, or even talking — is enough to cue you to the key, the starting pitch.

I've also noticed that when thinking of a very familiar song, like a Beatles song, I remember it in tune. I don't have perfect pitch, but I can often do this.

I hear this is absolutely traumatizing for dog lovers and neutrals alike. But possibly good —— somehow?

I’ve spent enough time with Ravens to know they’re not always in the mood. But every once in awhile—maybe it’s part of their PR campaign for the Halloween season, or maybe they just finished eating or preening—they’ll humor me and stick around for a moment where they seem just as curious as I am. A genuine “who’s watching who” scenario when I suddenly realize I’ve forgotten to breathe.

Lake Wildsee and the almost 140-year-old Alpine hut Wildseeloderhaus, in Fieberbrunn, Austria. A beautiful hike up to 1854 meters and some tasty soup and Kaiserschmarrn waiting for us at the end. One of the kids fell into a tiny creek and had to hike all the way down with wet shoes. 😅

Make yourself miserable with technology.

Listen to Hegseth get heckled and shouted at at his events. The people have lost something, they have suffered something. You can hear it in their voices. And yet Hegseth, in his smug way, chuckles it off. And audiences chant USA to suppress the legitimate outrage. These assholes cannot win.

#Uspol

It’s disturbing to me how, at rallies for republicans, the USA chant has become a way to silence dissent and cover your ears. A way to block out thought, even. The irony escapes them, I guess.

#uspol

The reason that you can be sure there will be hijinks — for lack of a more serious word — in the US election is that Trump has made no effort to win the election for Republicans and has shown no concern about losing it.

I think we need to talk about the fact that bicycles are becoming luxury items.

My husband keeps making fun of me for wearing these shoes but I swear they've got at least one walk left in them.

Continuing to look at, continuing to salivate. Continuing not to buy. When, not if.
