FINALLY! My husband found this and sent it to me today, reminding me that when we met at Clarion workshop 42 years ago, I was already incredulous that no one seemed to be working on this technology.

🙄 Compulsively needing to have nutritious, tasty food is a curse. This was a good meal, but meant that with other things on my morning schedule, along with feeding the old dogs their special diets and medicine, I didn't have MY breakfast until noon

I'm a non-believer, but let me just say, If there IS a God, this would be the time and place for some smiting ...

Abarenbo Shogun ( https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb-PcQmeRVGLjZUmSKm1rQyesywwkxKpq ). Rewatching after maybe 30 years(?), it's better tv methadone than any NCIS series. You won't be disappointed.

I'm sorry, I guess it's nice that Aetna sends a week of free meals after a hospital stay, but all I can think of when I see this array of shrink-wrapped food (obviously done when hot) is phthalates.

And you're supposed to nuke them wrapped, then cut 'em open.

Nope.

I'd suspect this came from my S.O. but for the date...

Nope, not great yet.

Pleeze! Every legit vote from everywhere!!

And I actually don't currently have to worry (much) about money, or a job, or a safe place to live - so complaining feels egregious when I think of the millions who are so much more vulnerable, and increasingly so.

It's been a while... Lots going on in my life, most of it not good. Feeling overwhelmed and constantly anxious, so much so that despite my lifelong reservations about paying a therapist to listen to my woes, I'm contemplating that route - bc any close friends I may still have do not deserve this burden. But then, when listing all the misfortunes in my head, cataloguing the troubles small to large, there are the few huge existential problems no therapist can solve or lift the weight of: we're killing our planet, and we have a monomaniacal, malevolent, mercenary madman (and his many minions) in charge of our country. WTF is a therapist going to do about that?

Last week, going through the stack of older NY Times weekend issues to recycle (to pull out the recipes) I could not help but notice all the thoroughly depressing stories I'd avoided reading as they came in. I mean, I try to stay peripherally informed, but I don't subscribe, literally or attitudinally, to paying close attention to massively discouraging information I'm powerless to do anything about - that just leads to paralysis.

But the really striking takeaway: this is the national bend-over-backwards apologist newspaper of record, trying to please their subscribers (every single one) while not offending their backers, owners, or masters. And it's still ALL BAD NEWS.

There's nothing like an out-of-the-blue all-day migraine to remind one that getting absolutely nothing accomplished for the day is even worse than the usual routine of time-wasting daily upkeep, repeated interruptions, and frustrating distractions that compromise most of my retirement.

Geez. And we, consumers, are trapped bc local stores carry less and less variety and other on-line retailers have to charge more, plus shipping. And even those of us who are doing ok... retirement income doesn't go as far. Do we stop contributing to NPR and independent press, and charities, and progressive political candidates, so we can spend more, and more time, shopping for essentials? Will that kneecap the giant Amazon? I don't think so.

I SO want to wake up from this nightmare. Just when you think they can't possibly go lower... They do. It's bottomless.

A depressing night of posts... reading about the Deplorables of the world. Trump has made even the word "deplorable" meaningless - Hell, it's a point of pride now to be vile just for the fuck of it. I almost WISH there actually WAS a God, but the current state of the world, the triumph of gratuitous evil over basic decency, proves that to be a ludicrous - or should I just say irresponsibly wishful? - fantasy. Peace out.

On Dover. That's some serious double standard...

This weight-gain strategy has a tendency to interfere with productivity: I feel a nap coming on already!

The other shoe drops in '27, but one foot is already blistering.

I have been weeding today - a truly Sisyphean task, bad enough in its futility and the pain it inflicts on arthritic hands. But worse is the bonus effect of having repeating patterns of tangled crabgrass, mock strawberry, and creeping fucking Charlie serve as the biological screensaver behind my resting eyes for as long as it takes this human foraging pattern-recognition mix tape to fade 🙄

So, is everyone else off for the summer, too? I have been very busy vacationing (!not - family summer house, all repairs and no play, literally none) so haven't checked in here for about a month, and there's a serious dearth of new posts.

I mean, it just took this morning between the dogs' ungodly early pee-walks to catch up ... does one's feed wither from disuse? Do toots (I really can't stand that word, btw) evaporate if left unread for too long?
