    How is this OK?

"We'll get data on your use of all apps and you might get slightly quicker installs"?

Some apps are highly personal. Don't they hey enough profiling crap already?

If you see this notice, the next thing you need to do is disable that thing.

A screenshot of a mobile device displaying a centered pop-up notification box over a dark, blurred background. The pop-up title is "Google is optimising app installs with your help" and features a graphic of a white lightning bolt in a blue square surrounded by blue and white geometric shapes. The text inside reads, "Google Play makes apps faster to install, open and run based on what people are using most. The first time that you open an app after installing, Google notes which parts of the app you use. When enough people do this, your apps will install faster. App install optimisation is automatically turned on, but you can turn it off in settings. Learn more". A light blue "OK" button is located at the bottom of the pop-up. A separate light blue button with the text "No, thanks" is positioned at the bottom of the screen.

@Johnny_Johnson Which part of my post are you asking about, please? Just so I answer it correctly.

@FibroJedi Actually, I find it kinda cool. Do you know how Android's AOT/ART bytecode compilation works? And is it known, if this is happening for custom apps, outside of Google Play? If yes, then I agree it might be a problem.

@pitel Maybe you could educate me on the AOT/ART code for my understanding, please :)

And it does not infer that it will do this for non Play Store apps (of which I have a fair few, thanks to F-Droid).

@Torx I've toyed with the idea of GrapheneOS, but I don't know if my games would run on it and I'm scared of bricking my phone. I'd love to be away from Android, but there's no point in running GrapheneOS then having to install Google Play Services to be able to play a game I'm already running. It'd defeat the purpose.

@Torx ugh, and it looks like I'd have to...ironically...have a Pixel device for GrapheneOS. I guess I'll have to start saving up.

@FibroJedi At least consider installing a firewall to get rid of some data harvesting.

    Easy: TrackerControl
    Detailed: RethinkDNS, NetGuard

@Torx I use DuckDuckGo app tracking protection and our home WiFi passes through a mini Linux PC running AdGuard Home. My android devices' browsers are Vivaldi and WebLibre, both of which have blocking in them too.

I'm not sure i can do much more? Firewall apps can't run at the same time as DDG ATP.

We still occasionally have glitches, or sites become unavailable because they rely on ads.

I'm happy to take advice, though.
