Our lonesome chicken has now become an indoor pet and has learned from the cats to guard the home territory from this vantage point. So far, no intruder chickens have attempted to pass.

Up very early today as I was woken up by a cat requiring food. However, upon sitting up to remonstrate with said cat, I was looking eye to eye with an intruder cat, who bizarrely looks very similar to one of my cats. I gave my best displeased growl to show my annoyance and it bounded away but as punishment for my insensitivity, I could not fall back asleep. I just lay awake staring at the ceiling contemplating life with 3 cats, rather than the 2 I currently serve. Mmmm?

After losing her partner of 12 years last month, our remaining chicken has found a new partner!

The view from my office this morning.

I'm not sure if the chicken thinks it's a cat, the cat thinks it's a chicken or if both of them think they're human.

There is a faint possibility that I'm supposed to be a chicken or a cat or both.

Sometimes I find myself too impatient but then at other times I'm overly patient as I wait or put up with things for too long.

I think I need a word for somewhere in between patient and impatient.

Catching up with an old friend for lunch. Thinking of enjoying a 30 minute stroll to the station and taking the train rather than just opting for a lazy rideshare.

Gotta get fitter, so the action choice it is! 😃

Great day was had! Exquisite micro-brewery stout and relaxing conversation that can only be offered by someone you've known for many decades.

The walk one went well too, though needed a short sit down at the end. 😃

A young Chinese guy told me in a speaking test that his favourite song was 'Hotel California' and even though it was a test, I couldn't help myself from breaking out in song with:

"On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air."

I began to chastise myself for my unprofessionalism but then he joined in, so we finished the song.

Cross-cultural and cross-generational boundaries were obliterated thanks to a timeless Eagles masterpiece.

You know, the Fediverse reminds me of the local oval in my childhood neighbourhood.

Every day after school, I'd get home, raid the fridge and bolt out the door to the oval. I had no idea who would be there but other kids would always pop in and we'd kick the ball around or organise a game. Then, darkness would fall and we'd all disappear.

We never called each other or planned anything but we connected when our paths crossed. I really like being back in that world.

I've decided from now on to include at least one language error in every toot to prove that it is really me that are writing it.

Our beautiful ginger chicken has passed away just shy of her 12th birthday. In her first year, she was our only chicken and followed us around all day long. Then, we found her a partner and they have been inseparable ever since. The poor partner has been with her constantly for the past few days as she deteriorated and is looking very lost now. The end stage is so hard for all who love them.

Thanks for all the wonderful memories, our darling ginger girl! We will miss you. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

3 Years Together! Happy Birthday girls!!!

You know, the way most people on the Fediverse communicate always makes me want to be a better person, a more considerate person, a more informed and curious person. I've only ever seen this in glimpses on other social media platforms.

Being active on the Fediverse always reminds me that the world never stops.

Whenever I drop in, there is always a friend to connect with somewhere that is waking up, having a break from work or just relaxing after dinner.

This chance to connect with anyone, anytime and anywhere just blows me away.

It's not socialist, communist or an act of terrorism to believe that every individual in a country has an intrinsic right to food, water and shelter.

This should not be a political position: it's just basic human decency.

Call me naive, idealistic and overly optimistic but I've always believed that the vast majority of humanity want the same peace, fairness, liberty and continued access to decent living standards.

Unfortunately, that loud and entitled minority who just want everything to favour themselves continue to dominate and control how the rest of us live, denying us all these things.

At some point in history, this has to stop! It has been and will always be a ridiculous state of affairs.

It's that most dreaded time of the week. I have to go shopping, for food that is. I hate shopping but I love food, so my emotions are at war.

I'll don some headphones this morning and hope that the blaring of something melodic can soften the experience.

Yes, I know I can have it delivered but I need to choose my own food. This task can't be delegated.

Onward march, into the belly of the beast we go!!!!
