It doesn’t count as “a day to myself” if you message me during it. Or during the 72 hours immediately proceeding or following it.

Ask not what your server can toot for you, but what you can toot for your server.

Welcome… to Fedi Vale.

#Fedihired posts are getting weirder by the day.

Do not @ me with your "It's not that bad!" comments unless you want to out yourself as someone with shockingly small hands and low standards.

Apple making the Apple Pencil compatible with iPhone Duo rather than a tiny stylus that could travel with the phone will be less convenient than Samsung's approach, but so much nicer. I've used the Galaxy S Pen with a ZFold 6, and it's an abomination.

You need to update your priors. Copying things off of the internet has come a long way in the last few months. Copying things off of the internet is the future. If you aren't on board with copying things off of the internet, you're going to be left behind. There's a non-zero chance that copying things off of the internet will wipe out humanity. But copying things off the internet will also cure cancer and eliminate work. Which is why we have to keep copying things off of the internet.

Due to a typo in the meeting minutes I sent out at the end of the day, management is now expecting us to deliver a new intranet built on Microsoft SharkPoint, and frankly, the team is PUMPED.

“I can’t do this without AI” is the same sentence when you stop after the first four words.

I went to a funeral for a colleague, a project manager named Steve, this morning. What seems like a lifetime ago, he hired me as an assistant project manager. Within weeks, a new CIO swept in and promoted me out from under Steve before tripling the size of our team. I got to spend most of the next few years shaping the project management office’s practices and tools, and then graduated to a role in development and IT strategy. But Steve and I continued to work together for eight years.

Steve always wanted to mentor me more than I was interested in being mentored, but I never complained; I didn’t tell him, but that job was a lifeline, as I was drowning at my previous employer. And it ended up being the most consequential gig in my entire career.

He told me earlier this year that one of his proudest accomplishments was bringing me to the company. I told him he must not have achieved much, then. We laughed. But I wonder now if he knew. If he was saying goodbye. A few weeks later, he left for a trip to Greece. He made it back to the States but never returned to work.

Thanks, Steve. Happy travels, my friend.

I see October is finally starting to act its age.

(For those of you who don’t speak Fahrenheit, I believe the metric equivalent is “chilly.”)

Do you swear to boost the toot, the whole toot, and nothing but the toot, so help you John Mastodon?

TL;DR and handsome.

Someone I knew from IRL used to have a very popular Twitter account, and she would frequently end her tweets with “This post does not contain a question.”

I think about that a lot, here.

I’m exhausted, I have an impossibly long to do list and multiple, conflicting deadlines looming. So, there’s only one thing to do: roll up my sleeves, and open Mastodon.

I've heard it said that job requirements are often more of a "wish list," but this is getting ridiculous.

Shine on, you crazy Mastodon.

To whom it may concern:

BOOP.

Tapping the "skip ennui" button in the lower-left corner of my life.

My dad found this while cleaning out for a move, something my late mother made a long time ago. I haven’t ever seen it before (or at least not since I was around the age portrayed in the piece).
