Soccer mom sketching at the bar watching bball while child has training

I'm apparently operating with half a brain cell and even less energy today.

Tell me something good that's happening in your world.

Where are all the writers who can translate the latest infosec stuff into sentences that non-experts can understand? Haven't seen any yet. Major media seem to be ignoring whatever major things appear to be happening. Possibly I missed some articles.

Y’all.

I CAN’T KEEP UP!

One of my mother's paintings. She had a really enormous one that was destroyed in the OKC bombing.

We hiked to Hooker Falls (where I took this) then up to Triple Falls (where I took another video) and then back to Hooker to see it once the sun came up. GREAT morning! These are pretty easy walks, especially this one.

Up very early today as I was woken up by a cat requiring food. However, upon sitting up to remonstrate with said cat, I was looking eye to eye with an intruder cat, who bizarrely looks very similar to one of my cats. I gave my best displeased growl to show my annoyance and it bounded away but as punishment for my insensitivity, I could not fall back asleep. I just lay awake staring at the ceiling contemplating life with 3 cats, rather than the 2 I currently serve. Mmmm?

A survey by the (American) Public Religion Research Institute found that empathy is valued most highly (83%) by the religiously non-affiliated, next most highly by adherents to non-Christian religions, and least (42%) by white evangelical Protestants.

Trying to win Halloween in the neighborhood this year...

I attended a corgi Halloween party yesterday. 14 Pembrokes and 2 Cardigans (my Vito and Dory). Corgis are very busy little bees with no particular destination in mind.

…and to read Winnie the Pooh.

The East Coast's next coastal storm will bring minor to moderate tidal flooding from Delmarva through the Outer Banks and multiple days of onshore winds this week. We discuss details on that, the next bout of heavy rain in the West, and a look at an upcoming extreme weather/climate movie that Matt was a bit involved in: https://theeyewall.substack.com/p/more-coastal-flooding-for-the-mid?r=5w82qw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

@BakerRL75 @ai6yr

Extremely sad news tonight. Jared Smith @jared from Charleston Weather (@chswx on all the platforms) has died.

He had complications from heart surgery and did not wake from sedation after the surgery.

He also just got married on October 4 and leaves behind a wife.

@jason “non-practicing white person” is chef’s kiss. I’m going to join the club.
