Rafael Pérez 🍁rperezrosario@mastodon.socialNov 7, 2026, 7:01 PM@koen_hufkens Makes me wonder what is the rationale behind this sort of censorship, coming from Apple. What could they possibly stand to gain, besides pissing some of their customers off?
Nov 7, 2026, 8:37 PMApple's always been paternalistic like this. Part of it was a bunch of executives who were evangelicals (I'm trying to remember the name of the iTunes store exec when I was there from 2001 to 2007,) "we know best," and we gotta comply to sell units.
The hilarious tension was that Macs were popular platforms for editing videos and CD ROMs in the porn industrial complex, so the puritans turned their heads so the QuickTime team could support the pornos.
Wild times.
