“Before we pick anybody as the Senate Democratic leader, we need to have a conversation among ourselves — an open, honest conversation about the direction of the country.”

Sen. Van Hollen explains why he became the first Democratic senator to speak out against a Schumer coronation.

@indivisibleteam I get it that it would be great if Schumer and Jefferies were more progressive, but Jefferies has done well. Schumer is another whole issue: he has either been entirely responsible ot has been instrumental in every success Democrats have had in the Senate for at least 16 years! Every single one! Replacing Him with someone new to the job brings the term "Stupid" to mind. Better to lobby him relentlessly, convert him to your point of view, and LEVERAGE that skill instead of squandering it. Besides, should Democrats start off with the incompetent looking infighting that Republicans displayed when they last took power? That never works out well.
