Yesterday's sewing: Put on the hooks onto the placket after topstitching the edges of it on both sides. The hook handles first just whipped on, sewn onto just the seam allowance, and then straight through in a little tack only. Attached a bit of cotton tape to hide the hooks and reinforce the opening without making it too bulky!

A close up photo of the side front placket and opening for a dark blue linen skirt. There is a tiny line of tidy topstitching in a slightly different dark blue thread right on the edge of both the eyes side, with the loop of the eyes peeking out only, and on the overlapping side, where the shadows of the body of the hooks is only slightly visible. There's a tidy bar tack at right where the hooks are attached, corresponding with the eyes on the other side: Otherwise the hooks are hidden. There's some basting thread along the placket, Sini's fingertips.
Very close up photo showing the sewing on of the hooks. The hook is set three millimetres from the edge of the opening, right at the line of the topstitching for even positioning. The one being sewn on is not yet fully covered, the one above it has been whipstitched all over, and has the bar tack through the handles, affixing it firmly in place through all layers.
A brown herringbone cotton tape has been slid under the hook part of the hooks and the attachment part of them hiding absolutely all of the messy stitching, the seam allowance and other traces of construction. This is then being minutely whipstitched in place by hand, with dark blue thread. The sewing needle is incredibly fine, short and curved by use. The stitches are very very small and invisible from the right side of the garment.
