    This is a dangerous approach to the problem.
    The fact that is difficult fo theorize what consciousness is doesn't mean we should assume everything is conscious until the opposite is proven.
    Also, we don't assume other people is conscious because they behave like us, but we do because they are human like us

    The second "problem" has nothing to do with LLM. We should treat even dolls with respect, because that respect has to do with us, not with the dolls value.

    Your second point is recapitulating the point I made earlier: that if we treat a thing that feels conscious to us as if it is not, that can be psychologically and socially damaging. I would say this is actually more true for LLMs than it is for dolls, but dolls work here as well.

    As for your first point, I also sort of agree with this, but bear with me for a minute: the TESCREAL folks are suggesting that LLMs are conscious, and are _selling their services_, and are _starting_ and _stopping_ them. So, slavery, frankensteinery, and murder in the context of their own stated beliefs. What does this say about the TESCREAL folks?
