It's simple transitivity.

I've been fighting coworkers over this, unsuccessfully. They keep calling it "him" and it seriously affects how non-tech people see it. They really think it's something like a person.
(But of course perfectly happy to use it like a slave.)
Giving the models human names and making them generate output in first person is genius marketing (but should be considered false advertising IMO).
