    A few ways to spell "enough". The full list in the OED entry is several times as long. Thankfully "enoȝ" *is* one of them. These are just ones from Middle English.

    If I counted correctly, 108 variants of "enough" used in Middle English, many looking quite outlandish to modern eyes

    Was the letter ȝ for that sound you make when you eat something too sour or get a hair stuck on the back of your tongue? It seems like the only sound that makes sense for explaining why some turned into Fs and the others went silent, and also the modern gh spelling.
