I went to a Lanzhou Chinese restaurant a few days ago, and they brought out menus with no English on them except for a little note taped to the top that said "as server to translate."

The menu was dense and probably 15 pages.

The server came over and asked us a bunch of questions about what we like and don't like, then picked what we were going to eat for us, and wrote down the name and number of the dish so we could order it again when we come back.

Best meal I've had in a month, easily.
