I'm in some groups for long-dead properties (Ultima, Sierra adventure games, etc) and I've noticed people in those groups seem to have a much greater appetite / acceptance for AI slop. Part of it is they're largely boomers, but I think the real issue is just that because such things are out of the public spotlight, there's a dearth of artists / musicians / writers / game modders / creative types who have simply moved on to other, newer things.

The result is a group of old hangers-on who have also seen everything already, and are simply desperate for novelty. In that environment some AI generated Ultima rap is at least _something_ for the starving. Whereas a "healthy" community has current cultural output and therefore can mount a rejection of slop.

It's a depressing end! I'd sooner see a quiet "nothing" than the remnants being fueled by artificial injections of "content", but, many of the members clearly don't want that.
