@cory I absolutely love that idea in principle, but what about in practice? Particularly if a certain tech company is the only one that provides something that a non-technical person needs not everyone wants to learn how to program or even how to use a computer for that matter. I used to think that everyone needed to either learn to use a computer, or be left behind, but what if it is true that older brains aren’t actually capable of learning something new? or is that just a myth, too?

In practice you could be tied to one service or two or three or whatever the case may be, but not *all* of them. It's a question of providing less when you can while acknowledging that isn't always the case.

@cory Yes Cory. Rage against the dying of the light.

Writing null into text fields always puts a smile on my face, and name at company dot com has been a throw away email for me for a long time.

I too think about how to help nontechnical people see some of these issues frequently. I appreciate your outreach to others and sharing ideas on a rebellious loyal opposition.

It gives me some small pleasure to push back — I do like the idea of writing null into fields, I hadn't tried that before. I've been a big proponent of getting my family on adblockers, off Google services, running NextDNS on their network and on and on. Chip away as much as you can wherever you can.
