When people saw that Ted Bundy preyed on college aged women, it was easy to differentiate victim population and predator population, because they are different genders.

It's easy to see that the college women have to be protected from people like Ted Bundys. No one suggests that murders of college women might decrease if only we would increase the fascist beatings and false imprisonment of those college women until they learn to avoid any possible interaction with cops.🤡

That would be silly. That would make Ted Bundy's life easier.

It's easy for white people to see why this won't work when the victims are white women, and the serial killers are white men. It's very difficult for many white people to make the mental connection that the group of Black people doing the killing, and the group of Black people doing the dying, are mostly different populations. Because they're all Black men.

And instead of realizing that out of 1000 Black men, 1 extremely dangerous man might have killed 25 people, all 1000 Black men are treated as if they are seconds away from killing 1 person.

Ironically, the worst shooter in a neighbourhood is less likely to be convicted of a murder, than an innocent normal person falsely accused.

@mekkaokereke The dynamic sounds similar to the way serial sexual-abusers operate in certain spaces too.
Like, if you're a sex worker, you can't really call the cops over a client abusing you, so often the best that can be managed is word of mouth among other SWers to try to avoid dealing with certain people - because if the cops are involved, more likely you go to prison than him.
