    In the name of practice of communicating design concepts more clearly to the wider public, I have redone the graphical part of the explanation of what (in my eyes) is wrong with the new Safari compass (27 beta). Hope this is much clearer.

    Please, Apple, can we change it to different solution! 🙏

    @mrudokas Looks good to me!

    I originally thought that Apple had actually bent the “hands” of the compass in their icon.

    @kmgrant You were not the only one, so I learned a lesson to be more careful with too rough visualizations when posting in the open. Therefore v2.0 :) Thanks! And sorry for the v1.0 :D

    @daviandrade Haha! Thanks, Davi! The dude appeared spontaneously. :) I was just preparing to arrange examples and put plain text explanations with arrows. And then somehow grabbed a tablet, and he popped out. Love such accidents.

    @ricobeck And that’s exactly what I want to achieve by pointing at this. :)

    It is likely “on dang, it didn’t cross my mind” rushed decision. But not sure how this went through more people.

    The intention of adding the center pin on itself was good — more small compass-defining features are welcome (too many were lost over the year to minimalism). But the solution found to incorporate it happened to be not fully thought through.

    @fmarini I don’t know how this can be likely. Haven’t used — maybe. But haven’t seen — should be impossible. Besides, having reference library is sort of mandatory part of design process.

    @mrudokas It's definitely a stupid redesign. The round rotation point looks like a pointer on a scale. I was curious, so I searched for pictures of compasses; none of them were painted like Apple's variant.

    @leonid You are highly likely pointing at the very root of the issue — somehow the photographic references did escape this round of design without being looked at.
