Abbott ordered state regulators to conduct an audit of all data center projects seeking permits in Texas before they give any more the green light, a move the governor has cast as a statewide pause on data center construction.

“Our top priority is to protect Texans’ safety and quality of life,” Abbott said. “Texans must come first.”
