Holy shit the blackcurrant frangipane cake thing was fucking phenomenal. I tasted the compote when I made it and it was SO sour I was dubious it could ever work, but the cake and the frangipane balanced it out so beautifully, and the compote sank into the cake and made it super moist and soft and it's delicious and I'm VERY full of myself today, just absolutely intolerable. Sorry.
