When your livelihood of taking water from the environment for irrigation is under threat by global heating, it’s understandable that some people will be fearful of change.
But voting against the solutions to your problems doesn’t help your situation. 🙄
It’s not until the end of the article that we finally see what’s really going on here. It was never about the environment or renewables.
Voting to support a racist xenophobic bigoted idiot and then trying to claim “I’m not racist, but…” doesn’t do you any favours. Especially when the local migrant community points out the explicit racism they experience daily.
Thankfully not everyone in the town is a bigoted racist idiot. There are some shining lights in Hay.
It’s just disappointing and disheartening to see some people are finally happy to be out and proud racists.
