Years ago, I invested in the stock market via Robinhood. These days, I’m regularly getting emails from them about making extra money via their stock lending program.
My understanding is that this is a way to allow folks to short stocks (sell them at a higher price and then buy them back when the stock drops).
This just feels like another fancy way to scam people (including the lenders out of money). Shorters talk about what they do as being a service to keep stocks from being artificially inflated or to root out fraud, but it’s all gambling, basically in my book.
I want to exidt in a world where we help each other survive—not find ways to knock our financial footings out from underneath ourselves.
