So… we all hate the military industrial complex. And the constant stream of needless war.
But today - just today - try to keep in mind that the people who have served in the armed forces may have lost friends and allies.
Pointing out it was needless is perhaps factual, but it's not helpful. Not today, or on your nation's equivalent day. You won't win converts, but you may cause pain to friends.
Instead, take *one day* off from that side of the rhetoric and just tell a vet "I'm sorry for your loss."
That's the point of today. Not throwing the futility of it all in our faces, or that the young are being taken advantage of, or triggering our survivor's guilt by thanking us for our service.
Just… be a friend, give one day over to either being quiet, mourning, or supporting.
Then yell tomorrow. Because shit's fucked up right now.
