    i sit down at the wheel, set up a throwing gauge, take some measurements, and throw 6 nearly identical black clay tumblers. there's a moment when the bat tries to jump off the wheel, and another where the clay twists, but i recover with a rib and some compression. then i wire the pieces off their bats, move to a ware board, and end by scraping bats clean
