    I want every product* and its packaging** to come with positive disposal instructions.

    I am sick and tired of "not currently recycled" or "check local provision" or "lid recyclable (but we're not telling you about the rest)". It should have a positive statement of what I absolutely *can* and *should* do to dispose of it.

    And everything that has to say, "general waste" gets taxed into oblivion.

    * mass produced, at least. I don't want to make life hard for individual artists and makers.

    ** If people buy in stacks of boxes or bags, they should already be stamped.

    @jetlagjen thing is, plastic is not recyclable. It can be incinerated, which it mostly is, which creates 2 tonnes of CO2 for every 1 tonne of carbon embedded in the plastic.

    Or it can be turned into a lower grade and harder to ‘recycle’ plastic on its way to becoming microplastic in a waterway and then in our brain.

    That kind of clarity on packaging would be even better

    @urlyman @jetlagjen
    That's accurate.
    "Energy from waste" is the euphemism for incineration.
    "Micro pollution" should be that for "plastics recycling".

    @urlyman oh, yeah, all of plastics "recycling" is greenwashing.

    But even having to stamp "general waste" on the stuff that can't be turned into lower-grade plastic would be a (very tiny) step forward.
