Very happy to see my paper together with Birgitte Haanshuus out. The paper investigates how terrorism targeting a minority affects both the people present during the terrorist attack and people who are members of the community that was attacked. The attack we are studying is the 2022 attack on the Pride festival in Oslo, Norway.
We study emotional reactions, behavioral changes and perceptions of Norwegian society after the attack.
The findings show that the attack had major negative consequences on all three dimensions and that these consequences were present for both people experiencing the attack first hand, and for other Norwegians with an LGBTIQ+ identity.

The terrorist attack on the Jewish minority in Bondi Beach is a depressing background for the publication of the paper. While our article changes nothing, hopefully it can inspire us to take better care of our fellow citizens with minority backgrounds after such attacks targeting minorities. While Bondi Beach is far away from Oslo, the hatred motivating it the attack is well known also here.
