@TimKStanton The pond thawed out last week and there were a number of dead ones floating. Maybe due to winter weird weather and ice ending up freezing much deeper? Still, I was pretty surprised when I went out today and saw a bunch of splashing.

That’s too bad about the fish dying. The one time I lost a lot of fish was when my pond froze over for more than several weeks a number of years ago (during a long cold spell). Not sure if it froze to the bottom. My temps are a lot milder than yours— probably easier to keep them alive here.
@TimKStanton It was frogs that died. Haven't had fish for years, pond needs to be rebuilt, it’s pretty small and has a slow leak.
@jerzone
Oh yes, of course, frogs not fish. My frogs all died also during the same freeze that killed my fish. Sounds hard to find a leak, especially with a slimy mucky bottom.
@TimKStanton It's hard terraforming the backyard!
