13+ hrs issuing votes and counting them. Some amazing determination from elderly members to turn up and vote in person. One chap could not make it past the bench by the gate, but that was "in" the polling station so we set up an issuing point and a booth there. Then we got him a taxi home. This was not how I envisaged issuing special votes, but I'm glad I did it.
Added a new video showing how to assemble the #RepRapMicron PIKA V0.03 Axis Driver https://youtu.be/5TI-oAWuZNE - the one with easier to install/replace anti-backlash bands. I get to set something on fire in this one too.
I currently do have a radioactive glow. I show up like a ghost on a gamma camera, being loaded with radioactive technetium 99m. Should be gone from the system tonight, but until then I'll set of radiation alarms, and have been told not to hug pregnant women for the next 6 hrs.
In an hour and a half I get scanned with all kinds of nerdy gear. Yay science!
For those who know about the reasons for this stuff, panic not. I'm told this is purely precautionary and they're just doing due diligence.
A 100% Open Source #CNC machine safe enough for schools & public. I like the scanning feature.

Welp, first day as an honest-to-God employee for 16 years...
I have had this jumpstart pack for ~15yrs. Still works. Well, until today.
The air compressor is operated by switching GND (held in fingers). This corroded (white blob) at the PCB, and when The Bloom Of My Desert turned the pack off, the wire broke loose. The wire then contacted some random ground inside the device, completing the circuit and running the compressor. There is no other off switch. Turning the main contactor off did diddly and The Guiding Star Of My Night had a ZOMBIE MACHINE!
Had to do it, didn't I?
WTF is it, Vik? It's meant to be a test hinge. The H-shape is supposed to stay put on the slide, and that dingus sticking out on the right side is supposed to be lifted up and down to see how flexible #3DPrinter resin is on that scale.
The failed #RepRapMicron print (about 0.4mm long) has a very much "... then frozen in Carbonite" feel to it where the UV stayed on. However, it has preserved the infill lines quite nicely. Interesting that the UV set the resin around the existing solidified shape.
The fibre cleaned up nicely 'cos it's Teflon-coated, and I wanted to upgrade the probe arm anyways...
Well, I've bleedin' done it. One 0.5mm Benchy from the #RepRapMicron #3Dprinter:

Hello #Hackaday, full documentation to follow.
I get the feeling that the majority of website developers these days do not know how to turn on the browser console and understand the errors therein.
Poking a 250μm "Hello, World" with a needle is like poking a road sign with a battleship.
So, the ill-advised Benchy attempt on the #RepRapMicron #3Dprinter. It kinda worked. Not too bad for a first attempt. Vaguely recognisable as Benchy, 650μm long, about half a millimetre tall. I didn't try preventing the laser from over-shooting, so a lot more resin is set under overhangs than is supposed to be. Can fix that.

I am doing something that may be ill-advised, but we'll see what the mess looks like afterwards.*
* Not for the first time...
Interesting video from Sabine who was offered cash to read out anti-AI propaganda. She's looked into who is paying pro- and anti-AI social media influencers now that individual outrage determines what social media you hang out on. Man, this is getting messy even without real silicon overlords!

I found my phone graveyard. I liked the Treo a lot.
And yes, I was a flip phone fan.
I've been walking (cautiously) with a stick again. As bending is difficult, I have been using said stick to pick things up. Standard stick points and ferrules are bloody awful for hooking stuff and hauling it up. So I invented this beauty. Haven't named it yet (anyone suggesting Grabby McGrabface will be McShot).
So if I fry a TPU thing from my #3Dprinter in olive oil, it becomes more flexible after cooling and washing. Hmm, have to investigate.
[WTF is going on at Vik's place??!]
My Android display went black. Brightness set to zero. Fortunately I had enabled "Talkback" which can then be turned on by holding both volume buttons. This allows you to navigate a dead or black screen by touch/tts, and I could turn the brightness back up! Useful tool, should be enabled by default.
Part of the meteorite that hit the Wairarapa, viewed on my microscope. This is only about 4mm wide. Entire rock is about 10g, and was collected by Fireballs Aotearoa.
