Finished my first major #Crochet project: a bookcase blanket in dark blue, yellow and magenta in homage to the ZX Spectrum's colour palette.

“Make it work” is the first 90% of the work. “Make it good” is the other 90%.

I hope I don't come across as a dickhead; I've shown a lot of restraint in writing this compared to my initial draft (which was also almost twice as long). Harsh, but fair, is what I hope I've achieved here. Anyways, here's my A.I. policy: https://chriskirknielsen.com/ai-policy/

i just want to do good work with other people who want to do good work

I came across a question on Instagram yesterday and it keeps floating to the top of my head...

"If you know you were 29 failures away from your goal, how fast would you want to fail?"

This is such a great way to look at failure: it is a path towards success, as long as you stay consistent.

I love how much we can do by "setting aside the ethical and climate concerns" at the start of every modern tech talk, podcast, and article.

So much we can do without those annoying ethical and climate concerns! Just set em aside! Cool trick!

(real "I'm not transphobic, but -" vibes)

Next stage of #crochet evolution achieved: an wearable hat. The yarn was too chunky in retrospect; combined with the slip stitch ribbing the fabric ended up super thick and spoiled the hipster skullcap effect I was going for, but all in all I'm pleased with the result.

The more I think about it the closer I am to taking no projects in July and August and working on a "HTML and CSS for designer" course.

My daughter just independently reinvented guitar tab on her own initiative. Couldn't be more proud.

My wife, last week: “Why is your phone open to a note that just says, ‘Endless Shrimp Jesus?’“

Well!

You're allowed to post on your blog once every decade, and you don't even need to apologize for it. That's also part of having your own space.

Personal sites aren't a competition, and productivity doesn't have to be a metric.

Here's @vasilis kicking off the HTMHell advent calendar with a great piece about "semantics and shit"🎄

If there was a name for a Frontend Developer who sits ideally in front-of-the-front-end while also advising Design with regards Accessibility concerns, maybe UX here and there, and the feasibility of actually implementing the design ideas in code...

What would that role be called?

I get that Design Systems and the people who build them sit in this space. But still, what is that role called? And what if I'm not actively the one in charge of the design system?
