eventual goal is an openWRT port. I'm not that hopeful because realtek rtl8197f does not have an official port, but there have been community efforts over the last 4-5 years. So there is a chance.
My dumbass has never written any dts files, let alone learn how kernel dev works, so wish me luck!
Good news and bad news regarding my little project
So I bought another clip combo but this time it's a full combo and when I try to power it from my ESP32 it just shuts off
I think it is drawing way too much current when connected by trying to power the CPU or something
But it works when I desolder the flash chip and resolder onto the board that came with my new clip today.
It took a damn long time to get here.
I burnt about 650rs on this project, where 150 so far is shipping. The goal is to get a full flash read, and not just that one weird thing I did in the realtek bootloader where I copied flash to ram and got it print the data byte by byte and had a python script reverse it for my little endian laptop (which was extractable with valid filesystem data as squashfs)

We have a domain now! It doesn't do much so I added a preview of the thing! Kicad generating the model as glb and used Google's Model Viewer library to render it directly in your browser!

Some more information on the project: It is a simple companion toy that you carry around that responds to you and your surroundings
This will also attempt to be hackable, allowing users to load their own code/add some extra hardware! (Most likely through the G-Link/ STEMMA QT / Qwiic connector for I²C)

I've always been interested in the relation between the enterprise scene and oss
