Ah, Wednesday, the most stupidly spelled day of all the days.
Unless you know people who go round calling it Wed-Ness-Day of course.

I can't believe I just reviewed a pen, but I had to really because so many read about the fact I'd bought one.

I blogged about fountain pens and being involuntarily inducted into a cult.

I bet there's a whole nerdy fountain pen and notebook/journal keeping subculture with their own hashtags and in-depth opinions here...* searches *. #fountainpens
Oh yeah, there is of course.
In the days of connected toothbrushes and toasters (which I don't own), I think it's very punk of me to have just ordered my first Moleskine journals and a new fountain pen.
I'm unplugging, disconnecting and generally going analogue where possible - he says to the Fediverse on the internet.
Man who doesn't live in or pay taxes in the UK but takes a lot of money from it says he's lost confidence in the ability to increase the money he takes from it in future unless it exploits people around the world like they used to and stops giving some money back to people who do pay taxes in the UK.
Then he lies back on his sun lounger on his Monaco penthouse balcony and drops back off to sleep.
I am now at home. After the failed cardioversion they let me out, pending further fiddling at a (hopefully not too distant) future time. Still in AF, just extra drugs to keep a lid on the excessive heart rate and tide me over from now until that happens.
Good morning from my luxury bed in a cardiology ward.
A 110 bpm accompanied bowl of bran flakes for breakfast indicates that the drugs don't work by themselves yet.
I await a consult with consultants later this morning, to see how we can get things a bit more relaxed and rhythmic in the beating department soon.
I've not posted much this week really.
I've written a blog post about why.
And I'm still inside.

Edited to add my thanks for all the supportive messages. This morning's obs look better, HR coming down gradually again. Two figures now, which is a start.
Proper pouring with rain this morning, and temperature is, dare I say it, a positively autumnal 13° C.
Luckily I had only yesterday found that one of the water butts hadn't been filling, so stripped the pipes out and found a stone blocking the diverter to the outflow pipe - how a stone that size got into the roof gutter to be washed down in the first place is another mystery. Anyway, I suspect that one is full again this morning.
My first message from a new guest demonstrating some misplaced belief that an AI chatbot might, after burning a planet up and drinking all its water, provide some help.
"Hello, we can't get the oven to work. We've tried your guide (this is good, the answer is in there - but they've missed it!) and we've tried ChatGPT. Can you help?"
What! ChatGPT doesn't know about the BIG RED ISOLATION SWITCH on the wall above the hob that I DO tell you about in the guide I wrote.
Oh hang on...
"Don't worry," (I wasn't) "we've found the bit in the guide and the switch now."
Yes.
Well done.
Amazing what happens when your brain is used.
Unfortunately you have shortened the planets life by three days by asking ChatGPT first instead of me.
I did a blog about the thing I posted about earlier, ref my parents on video calls.

Mum and Dad have discovered they can video call me... I'll have to answer without video and claim my camera doesn't work.
I mean, at least with audio only calls I could still read fedi while they yabbered on about the latest pills they'd been put on and why. And now I have to explain "What did that mean?" when I've rolled my eyes or yawned or stared wistfully out of the window wishing it was over.
Some may have noticed I'd changed to using the Scribbles blogging platform now.
I get the feeling it's not as popular as some of the other services I see recommended whenever someone asks about independent blogging platforms, and I can't work out why. There have been plenty of author-side improvements recently, so I think it deserves a mention in the same breath as things like Pika and Pagecord.
Anyway, trying not to make this post seem like an ad, so look for yourself if you want, or not, I'm not your Dad and not bothered either way.

I blogged about having a moment of overwhelm. It's OK, there's a happy ending.
Good grief. There I am, logging on for some wit and amusement on my slow and relaxed Bank Holiday wind down, and all there is here is a lot of talk about sucking off Bernard Manning, which quite frankly is making me feel ill.
I shall add a Bernard Manning filter (funnily enough, had never considered it necessary before) and try again later.
Taking the GP's advice of 'don't do too much' very seriously indeed.
Although it is hard to find the line where 'too much' starts and 'much' ends, so for safety I am erring on the side of 'nothing much', which should keep me well away from 'too much'.
I blogged about another addition to my lifetime list of things that are threatening my lifetime.
For balance, I have just noticed that after using J's car yesterday (she had mine as she needed the load space) I had left it on the drive with the windows open overnight. So it's getting wet inside now. Also, the bin lorry just went past as we didn't have any bins out.
Insert opposite of applause here.
