CSS typed arithmetic lands in Firefox!
Both FireFox and Safari have very bad bugs when you start to do anything somewhat advanced with CSS columns, like adding borders or managing the flow of block elements that aren’t text.
Safari has had some weirdness at times when calculating the block dimensions of elements in a grid, especially with `aspect-ratio` or particularly long, flowing content. Things could have improved now, as I only run into issues when I run into issues.
Gecko 🦊 and WebKit 🧭 should focus on a LayoutNG-like layout engine rewrite for interop instead of smaller one-off features.
Thanks to @janmaack, IvyMazarin now comes in two optical sizes.
IvyMazarin Big reimagines Robert Girard's Astrée in classic news proportions: narrower, sharper, and more tightly spaced, with an even larger x-height. Together, the two sizes carry the same cool, French take on Garamond from book covers to billboards.
Available in five weights with matching italics, plus Roman and Italic variable fonts.

@thetypefounders just picked up one of their most important libraries yet with Process Type Foundry. https://hubspot.thetypefounders.com/whats-new-in-type-may-2027
If you missed it, TTF has been purchasing both font and brand IP, while supporting founders to continue making new type on a royalty basis. The current portfolio: https://thetypefounders.com/#foundries
"The people holding up the internet"
A good-looking but somewhat depressing exposé about the people holding up current digital infrastructure as a hobby.
All these AI companies are reinventing Google Now, but with extra steps.
*Except for the very rare occasion that you need a big overhead bag. I often pack a small under-seat bag in my roller bag that has my more valuable items so I can more easily check my roller bag at the gate and not worry about boarding.

”There’s another, uglier explanation for the CSS disrespect: It’s considered a 'feminine' language. There’s the obvious undertone that dealing with style and beauty is Female Work, along with the recycled joke that a CSS developer is 'a freak in the style sheets.'”
Browsers situationship: when browsers agree but the spec doesn’t. @atbrakhi looks at what happens when Chrome, Firefox, and Safari ship the same behavior that the spec never described. Sometimes the browsers get fixed, sometimes the spec moves toward reality: newline normalization in HTML forms went that way. WHATWG’s working mode, Web Platform Tests, and the Compatibility Standard all push toward convergence. #browser #interop
It is once again National Punctuation Day in the US. To celebrate, I made a small easter eggy update to my smart quotes site (click the logo):
