For the first time since my hysterectomy, someone commented how nice my wide hips will be for bearing children. Leaving aside the presumption of gender, the assumption that every female has to bear children is what bothers me more. I don't want kids. I never wanted kids. I don't have a uterus, so I can't have kids. None of that seems to matter...
The knife smith I contacted about making me a knife has offered I come in and create it with them. That way it would be exactly what I have in mind. That sounds expensive but also really cool!
Background: I'd like an ulu knife because it makes cutting with my messed-up joints a bit less painful.
I'm really sorry for the real farms and projects in Uganda and such, for the real people suffering in war zones. Unfortunately, it's almost all scammers. It's especially hard with the projects in Africa because there are actual real projects worthy of support. But they all go by the same schemes here... it's annoying and disgusting.
As to the people from Gaza: well, their stories just don't add up at all, so that's much easier to dismiss...

I tend to find MRI procedures relaxing. Lie still, try not to move, and occasionally hold your breath. I don't even mind the noise or the vibration, as they are rhythmic.
Today I was forced to listen to music with ads which kept then getting interrupted by a computer voice telling me to hold my breath or to—my favorite—relax, please.
All the while, my arm was puckering from the failed attempts to get the contrasting agent into my body...
Well, I made it home. I am spent.
A state of Germany has now declared a state of emergency because of the ongoing drought. Farmers are feeding winter food already because everything is struggling because of the heat wave wave. Well, so what do we do? We loosen more rules. Non-organic food for organic cows, crops on fallow land... one rule after the next dismantled to ward of catastrophe while ignoring the underlying catastrophe that connects it all...
The best thing about trying (and failing) to buy a couch: the partner had spotted a beaver dam on the way there with a shitty little parking spot across where idiots dumped a lot of trash bags. But the flooded woodlands were amazing when we stopped there for a stroll on the way home. We couldn't even see the end of it. Team Beaver!

The neighbor cat starts meowing happily when the car can be heard in the distance. Loudly, very off-tune, but definitely happily, and only for the correct car. I love it.

Some cabbages and other brassica can still be planted, some are a little too late. Chard, radishes, some things will still work.
And while your in your seed boxes: it's soon time for spinach and corn salad.

The system is so fucked.
I have worried about the mental health of at least seven individual people today. We reall need to get this societal clusterfuck under control.
Military helicopters are so unnecessarily annoyingly loud. Speaking of: I don't want to know how much fossil fuel we burn to make all these military aircraft fly in circles. If we'd at least stop using pesticides and synthetic ferilizers on our fields now that we can use those lovely resources in warfar again. But no, we just do both now.

This tough-guy thing hurts, literally. It hurts when the tough guy can't admit he's hurting. It hurts when the tough guy can't ask someone for help with the heavy load, and instead picks up a second bucket. It hurts, when the tough guy doesn't take pain killers because those are for "pussies." It hurts because the tough guy won't go see a doctor, won't admit he's overdone it, won't admit that he's hurting, that he's not tough enough.
During the heat wave last week, which was much less extreme here than in other parts, multiple workers at the local grocery store went home because their metabolisms couldn't manage the heat. I don't want to know how many people are close to collapsing but don't stop and go home while no one even notices a thing...

In a country with a supposedly good medical system (Germany), I have to pay every cent of my own glasses. Insurance pays none of it. We can and will pay for them but this makes seeing properly a fucking privilege and that's just wrong on so many levels.
