Incidentally, this LP for some reason hovers around £150 - I suspect it’s that sweet spot between CD dominance and vinyl disappearing in the early 90s. I’ve never even cleaned it. I should probably take more care of it.

So, I used to pay about £10 for an LP in my youth, often around £5 or so and sometimes as high as £12. Singles, 7 inches, were 79p. Assuming 12 tracks per album, the cost of buying each track as a single would be £9.48. Makes sense.
Today an LP is around the £30 mark. Fine, that’s inflation, I’m happy with that. But newly released, and re-released 7” singles are being priced up at £13.99 retail (let’s call it £14 as you’re not fooling anybody). The same maths would put an albums worth of singles at £168.00
Or, to put it another way, no, fuck off, I’m not paying £14 for a single.
Just replied to an account that displays pictures of records they have in stock and enquired how much for one including shipping. “Sorry, we don’t ship anywhere” was the reply. Begs the question, why post publicly about what you have in stock when you won’t ship them anywhere? I felt like I’d stumbled into High Fidelity and Jack Black was behind the counter.
I binged The Boroughs this weekend. Not sure really what to say about it other than it kept me watching to the end. I’m not even sure I enjoyed it, but hey. It passed time. Now I’ve started watching Widow’s Island which might, possibly, be worse. But again I am invested. I guess this is what modern day TV is. A bit shit but keeps you watching.
Once again I am compelled to comment on how good a format the cassette tape is. This hasn’t been played for ages, but it sounds absolutely superb.
