Anyone know why #brew does not seem to exist for #bsd ? It seems like an easy match given it works on macOS already....

George Broussard everyone. I thought he was one of the good guys, but noooope, seems he's another Tim Sweeney.

#AI #slop

Routine reminder that #brave #browser is and always has been a lie. It is not secure. It is not private. And they've repeatedly put things in there that compromise the user.

Sabotaging #llm tools is #based

#Flathub refusing the output of those tools is based: https://github.com/flathub-infra/documentation/commit/992f57b30de98ddbd5e80959e9672998c83c8c97

Every single bit of resistance to #fashtech is good and necessary. Those who take such stands should be thanked for not giving in to industry pressure.

No #ai
End #BigTech

Oh, and lets see a few more #OceanGate situations, but maybe with rockets this time #SpaceX #BlueOrigin

In the long run I'm protecting the developers too, even if they do not realize it right now. What matters most to me is that we build a better world, not that I get more software.

I know #AI is all over the place, and I know that for #developers and especially #indie developers these tools can seem helpful. I know many use them but minimize the use cases, or say they couldn't have produced something without AI help.

However I cannot in good faith fund, promote, recommend or support any project that knowingly uses #unethical tools in it's production. You all know the ethical case against AI, I don't need to reiterate it.

I love a lot of you, but this is my red line.

@didier I was wondering how I had 227 unread messages. I now realize it was like 50 messages and 157 stream notices from Didier ;)

Posts like this are why #IFTAS is not a trustworthy source of fedi moderation. Olifant was the instance admin who's moderators coordinated an attack on a trans leftist, slandering her repeatedly until she left the instance and then continuing to claim it was a 'both sides' situation.

IFTAS was formed soon after, but continued to work with people like Oli, take advisement from abusers and bring on people who defended the attack (including the cc in this message).

You shouldn’t put up with Vercel using YOUR code as AI training. Time to move to better alternatives.

Reminder: Not every hosting company has a CEO that cozies up to a genocidal war criminal, but Vercel does 🙃

When people say your project needs to create rules to permit #AI contributions or else contributors will sneak it in anyway they are presenting a false dichotomy.

#FOSS has always had to deal with malicious contributions. This is no different than a contributor who contributes code taken from another project with an incompatible license.

The correct response is to remove the code when discovered and ban the contributor for jeopardizing your #GPL license.

#debian #linux

Note to #fedi that #Catodon is being relaunched but is being built via #LLM because Panos believes being poor means he shouldn't be shamed for using a tool he acknowledges is extremely harmful. He also thinks that because airplanes are bad for the environment it's fine to use #AI

People need to be aware that the relaunched Catadon is both unsafe and unethical. Panos has also claimed that it's "elitist" to criticize LLM usage.

@davidgerard

Because some people may need reminding, #kagi is a bigot friendly, fash friendly security and privacy nightmare of a service with an abusive leader who harasses critics.

A person's take on #AI is a direct reflection on their #ClassConsciousness

@BlueMonday1984 pointed to a thread on #Framework 's forums in which they are defending the closure of their Discord. They claim they shut it down as part of a plan to focus their social media presence, not due to their mods quitting over their embrace of #fascists

They mention they recently interviewed for a new social manager. A close friend of mine was a finalist in those interviews. The discord was part of the interview, and they had no plans to end it then.

So now they are just lying.

The silence from software projects about @frameworkcomputer supporting #fascism is speaking volumes.

Does @jorge of #bluefin, the @bazzite_gg #bazzite team, @fedora #fedora or @ubuntu #ubuntu have anything to say about this?

It's not going away. Framework is actively promoting you as part of their big #nazi embracing tent.

You on board? Is the free hardware worth supporting fascists?

So far @ariadne of @alpinelinux #alpine has demonstrated their ethics & willingness to protect the community.

I use a #glove80 from #moergo and it has been an amazing keyboard. I live in Portugal however and often need to type symbols that are not standard on a US english keyboard. I have solved this somewhat by changing Linux to English - International which gives me the ability to use the right alt key and have access to additional symbols like €.

What I'd like though is #keycaps to match that layout, ideally as a set, so I can see the symbols. Ideally shine through.

Suggestions?

Every time I point out that #bluesky is not actually #federated in the way any rational person defines the word, I get lectured by techbros who "Well achctually" me about how #ATProto and bluesky are separate things and it's about the protocol.

In reality no, it's not federated in any meaningful way, or at least not any way that mitigates the problems of traditional social media and web network effects. It's more of the same, but more jargon!

https://azhdarchid.com/delusions-of-a-protocol/

Sometimes I'll start dunking on people and ripping into their shit technologies. And liberals will be like "that's harsh, what have they actually done to harm people?" and INVARIABLY they end up being fascists or adjacent. The thing is, I can tell FROM the tech. The way tech is architected betrays the ideological zealotry that begat it. Tailwind is essentially Brexit for fucking CSS. "CSS is made by standards beaurocrats, let's destroy it" https://indieweb.social/@jaredwhite/115265962274406839

"AI coding" is reaching levels of second-hand embarrassment far surpassing even the sweatiest of public meltdowns over an NFT:

Not sure who to ask this so I'll tag @robin but is there a plugin for realtime translation in #Matrix available? Ideally locally executed. Need support for chinese and portuguese in my instance and not sure how to go about that.
