I am very much regretting agreeing to a presentation at my day job tomorrow. It feels like a set up. And it’s with a group that has continually set up my staff and betrayed my trust. Fun, fun. At least I’m getting paid, but if I get asked to do anything else for this group I’m going full Bartleby the scrivener.

Huh. Worldwide Moodle outage is gonna make things interesting today.

Ooof. I did hours and hours and hours of reading and annotating for two different lit reviews over the weekend and then went back to working ten hours a day yesterday. My brain just up and quit on me after lunch today. Left work early. Sheesh. I feel old. Is it study? Is it #perimenopause? Is it #MultipleSclerosis? Who can tell! #PhDQuest

It’s the last game of the season! Cheers to all who have hung in there. I’m riding the train up and back and making a day of it. #Mariners #baseball #mlb

In my endless quest to find new methods of procrastination, I voted in Fat Bear Week instead of reading an article. Success! #PhdQuest #FatBearWeek

I just stabbed myself quite deeply with a screwdriver during a meeting because I was trying to repair my computer glasses. I guess that’s one way to leave early.

I am so grateful that I survived this week. I am also grateful that the multiple people in my life who went to the ER or hospital survived. Here’s to all of us getting some genuine rest. Happy Friday. I’m off to early bed.

I feel actual, physiological rage and resentment towards people taking work calls from airports and on vacation. Extra irate points if it’s a video call and you’re bragging about working from wherever. It’s not cool. You’re being a jerk and delegitimizing the rest of our ability to actually have work life balance.

I have been taking this bag into Disneyland and other places with bag checks without clearing the pockets for years. A very thorough security guy today just found a special, agate rock I took from Giverney years ago in the bag and I am not allowed in with it.
I am DYING laughing.
I had no idea it was even still in there. I went back to my hotel rather than relinquish it.
So I’m now the grown adult with the monocular and special rocks. #AchievementUnlocked #Goals

THAT SKY! Plus we had thunder?!? #Cascadia #PNW

I took my mom to the ballgame for her birthday and we won!!! And #Jimothy led the charge! #baseball #Mariners #mlb

I got tickets a while back to the Portland Art Museum today for the Hockney exhibit and had planned to drive down from #OlyWA but at the last minute we remembered trains exist. I love trains! This has been such a relaxing day now that we’ve eliminated the driving part. Even better? My bid to pay $21 for both of us to bump to business class on the way home was a success! #PDX #Art #Amtrak #TravelByRail

In the past 24 hours I have had to tell an employee that they are only meeting assignment deadlines 65 percent of the time and we agreed in May that they needed to meet 80 percent in order to meet the requirements of employment. They only have a week to get back to 80 percent. And then I had to, at the advice of my boss, report a different coworker to HR for bullying. I’m tired, folks.

I’ve decided that my summer side quest is mixology. (Because full time work and #PhdQuest aren’t enough.) I have been making mocktails every night this week so as not to get wasted on work days, mostly using a Boston shaker and bastardized tiki drink recipes. I’d love any suggestions for fun, innovative or classic summer #cocktail and #mocktail drinks you enjoy. #cocktails #SummerDrinks #mixology #mocktails

Whole. E. Shit. Worth missing the study time. TRIDENTS UP! #Mariners 🔱🔱🔱

I swear I was gonna do an hour or two of coursework after work, but this #Mariners v #Orioles game is too exciting. #baseball #mlb

I am cat sitting this fine #Caturday evening and thought I’d share the very obvious trap awaiting me on my bedroom floor. Do not be tricked by her cuteness. That’s what she’s counting on. #Catstodon #CatsOfMastodon

I had an MRI to check on my MS progression today so I’d already taken the day off work. Somehow this is triggering me to actually cry as part of grieving. Wild. Being a human being in a human body who loves other human beings in human bodies is very, very hard sometimes.

I have an interview later this afternoon and if you’d asked me twenty minutes ago if I was nervous I’d have said no way, no how. But that cortisol rush I just experienced begs to differ.

Others may disagree, but for me that was just enough social to show support without burning my own introvert ass out.
