TIL at the beginning of the second world war German aviation could not reach England so the bombing raids focussed on the east coast of Scotland. The bombers could not be escorted by fighters because they were beyond their operational range.
So well-trained anti-aircraft gunners in the Firth of Forth made them extremely unhappy and they didn’t come back again for a long time.
