This is a lovely time to do computer stuff:
“We are making this release as fast as possible (we learned of the problem yesterday) because we have recently observed multiple cases of rapid bug rediscovery by AI agents, sometimes within hours, and so now consider long embargo periods to be a dangerous practice that primarily benefits attackers.”
I had just started at university when the original Ocarina of Time launched, and I was not a good student.
I was so worried about failing classes that I sold my Nintendo 64 to avoid temptation. I have regretted it ever since, as I love holding on to old hardware and this one was a Japanese import.
Expecting to play the remake with less drama.
A question for the iOS developers.
Now that we can use @AppIntent(.tool) with Siri AI, there are a bunch of app intents I really need that shouldn’t show up in the Shortcuts app.
isDiscoverable and deprecation hide intents from both Shortcuts and Siri AI, while isAssistantOnly only applies to schema intents.
What are you doing to solve this?
Please boost this Apple developer forum post to make Finder connections to LAN servers work again in future versions of macOS.

Perhaps your vacation blog doesn’t need Kubernetes, and perhaps your podcast on 80s tabletop RPGs doesn’t need a CDN. Dig out that old iPhone.

Me, about two weeks ago: “a-Shell is a niche app, iPhone Duos are going to be a niche platform, there’s a very low probability that the two intersects, I’ll bother with iPhone Duo compatibility when the problem happens.”
Readers, it took less than a week. #famousLastWords
I have spent at least 100 hours playing different Zelda games with my son, and he was so obsessed with TotK that he got a GameCube so he could play Wind Waker unemulated.
Now he has turned 15, and his focus has shifted from gaming to music and parties, which is natural and good.
But I'm super worried that he won't really care about next month's Ocarina remake and that we'll lose this shared interest.
"I turn away with fear and horror from this lamentable plague of continuous functions that have no derivatives."
Everyone needs to see this and also acknowledge why reverse engineering is a super power.

Guy reverses the dark patterns of mobile apps and publishes it, absolutely love it!
Holy shit.
Sponsor: NAS Reborn, from the Maker of Working Copy
The new Working Copy beta lists pull requests from GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, lets you comment on lines, submit a review, merge and close.
The diff analysis is deterministic and runs on your device: changes that only touch whitespace or rename something are folded away, so you read only what really changed.

macOS 27 breaks Finder integration for file providers talking to servers on your local network.
Even when ShellFish itself is allowed Local Network access, its Finder extension is still blocked: "Local network prohibited" on every connection.
No prompt, and toggling the permission for the main app doesn't help. Internet servers and localhost work fine.
Filed as FB24999927 with logs and a sysdiagnose. Boosts appreciated, hoping this reaches someone at Apple 🙏

AI discovers new supermaterial, “unmaintainium”
Pretty much done with support for iPhone Duo, out in v2.1.2 in October.
Are you getting one?
Macs already have many ways to act as a server, and NAS Reborn adds another.
