This place seems to like crows, so here's a few more:

Some local crows

Fun with alpha-channels:

I was wondering why that unbranded padlock was so mushy when picking it...

Yes, that's a plastic bible. The plug is fake too: it's badly cast zinc that's been brass plated. The pins are real brass, but badly misshapen.

Looks good to me

An infuriating thing about corporate web sites. (minimally technical)

Protip: Airgap important servers by connecting them over WiFi.

US government goes after a non-commercial web host offering free services to select people with opinions.

I'm a non-commercial web host that offers free services to select people with opinions... :neocat_0_0:

... and so is your local mastodon instance admin...

So, I just got hatemail that appears to have been generated by an LLM.

... someone should go tell the orange site that they've lost their job to AI.

Also, did anyone else on here get something from an proton.me email address that: [0] is clearly responding to a single published page, [1] echos fragments of the original page, [2] and has every point formatted as a question?

If yes, I'd love to hear about it to get an idea of how common this is. (and to know if this is a one off or if someone built a fully automated hatemail bot)

Hmm...

I dunno, but this seems very slightly excessive?

(I guess I'll have to set up a block list on my email server)

Ok, wrote a thing about it: https://maurycyz.com/projects/glass/2/

Camera rules:

1. Never point your camera at something you don't intend to photograph. Always be aware of what's behind your subject
2. Always assume a camera has memory/film.
3. Never touch the shutter button unless you intend to take a photograph

The moon I guess. Taken with a C9.25 (230mm, fl=2300m, f/10)

A funny thing about automated emails is that they are almost always HTML only. Every real email client sends both an HTML and plain text version for compatibility.

... so it turns out that making a spam filter is really easy and it doesn't require the big-tech approach of blocking by default.
