I have the following code that creates a new Sort object and binds a custom "sorted" event to it.

this.sort = new Sort(this);

$(this.sort).on("sorted", function() {
console.log("Items have been sorted!");
});
```

But despite the "sorted" event being triggered during the object's creation, the `log()` line doesn't run. I assume it's because the event hasn't been bound yet when it's first triggered.

What's the best way to address this?

If I have a static HTML page that displays hundreds of items (where each item is some text, an image and a link), is there any benefit to add JS client-side pagination?

As I understand it, all content will be loaded regardless, the JS will just show/hide certain items as you click on the page links...

Or is it ok to just leave the hundreds of items as-is? Or is there a better solution?

Is there a way in #Hugo (or #Go?) to format a string to be singular when there's only one thing?

E.g. "<p>{{ $videos | len }} videos</p>" sometimes outputs "1 videos". Is there an easy way to make it say "1 video" instead?

Today I learnt (realised) that #Python's `json.loads()` and `json.dumps()` functions aren't plural versions of `json.load()` and `json.dump()`. The `s` stands for `string` (since they read/write from strings instead of files).

I especially liked the blog post on their stance against #AI in the browser, and the fact that they have formal structures and a legal entity in place.

I've noticed an issue lately in #LinuxMint where certain date/time formats have an extra space in front of them.

E.g. "Sun, 4 Aug"
instead of "Sun, 4 Aug"

I looked into it, and found this #Cinnamon bug report from a few days ago: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/12335

Basically it's an upstream change, and the workaround is to add a hyphen after the percentage sign. So "%-e" instead of "%e".

Unfortunately the linked docs don't mention this, so posting here in case others find it helpful.

I've been adding lots of a certain type of node to #OpenStreetMap recently, and was getting sick of adding the same tags over and over again. There are some presets in #JOSM, but none that had everything I wanted.

So I found out how to make my own preset, and I love it! So easy now to add a node, click my preset's button in the toolbar and fill in the form.

I love #RSS feeds.

You can subscribe to them using the client of your choice; you're not locked into using the same system that provides them (e.g. subscribing to a #YouTube channel using #Thunderbird).

They're private; the person you're subscribing to doesn't know you're subscribed (so you can unsubscribe at any time and not worry about hurting their feelings).
