This was particularly frightening after a local celebrity was killed recently when a tire came loose from a vehicle, bounced and went through his windshield. It’s so important to not allow yourself to get distracted on the highway. If we had been distracted trying to get our nav to provide directions the outcome might have been different.
Suffice it to say that was a scary event. If that rock had bounced differently it could have come through the windshield. Luckily we both saw it which allowed us to brace for the impact and duck if necessary. We were moving at 60mph when this happened.
Thankfully we were in the right lane preparing to exit but we didn’t quite make it to the exit. Once we were stopped I checked under the car and oil was pouring out. We called AAA and the highway patrol. A cop showed up to give us cover while we waited. The tow truck was there in less than 10 minutes and towed us to our dealer. We won’t know the extent of the damage until Monday.
Yesterday, on our way to a restaurant, a 6-7” chunk of concrete came bouncing down the highway toward our car. We both prepared to duck but the rock thankfully went under the car with a big THUD, THUD, THUD. Barely enough time elapsed for me to commented, “oh, I hope it didn’t hit the oil pan”, when a huge alert popped up, “TURN ENGINE OFF NOW!”
Want to remember what it used to feel like to be proud to be an American? To be proud of our president? When decency and decorum were the norm?

I found my old iRiver MP3 player which came out in late 2003. It still boots a very old version of ROCKbox which is still an active project. The battery doesn’t seem to charge but I’m shocked the tiny little hard drive still works. I was thrilled to find some really old podcasts including The Tartan Podcast which featured Scottish musicians. There are very few archives of that show. Now I have a few more.
Rigby is so hard to photograph but I liked this one. He started out in a sunbeam but he sat there long enuf that it had largely moved off of him. Luckily he didn’t move when I booped the piece of litter that’s was stuck to his nose. 🙄😹

When I was 15, I was really into guitar. My uncle played in a band & would occasionally teach me how to play songs. One day I went over to learn a new song & there was this other guy there named Gary. They went to Uni together. Gary taught me how to play Ridin’ the Storm out by REO. Then my uncle spilled the beans. Gary was THE Gary Richrath of REO! My first celebrity encounter. I had the chance to meet & learn from Gary a few other times.
What celebrity encounter(s) have you had?
I had a close family member hit by one of these scams. It began as a pop up while browsing & evolved into a scammer convincing them to send them $100k. Lucky for our family member, the bank convinced them to contact their family. I was able to get a stop payment on both transactions & while their money sat in some other bank for almost a year, we got back every penny in the end plus interest. The signs of a scam in this article fit the methods used by their scammer.
Tonight my wife and I went to a benefit for a friend who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Other friends travelled in to perform music at the event. This friend is involved in a local professional fireworks group and as a tribute to him, his colleagues put on a fireworks display to end all fireworks displays. It was an amazing event for a great guy. I hope the money raised will help them navigate this difficult time. 1/3
George doesn’t know what a canoe is. All he knows is that this is a great place from which to survey his vast territory. It’s also a good place to hide when it rains. I’m watching the neighbor’s cats for them and brought a comb over because George loves getting combed. He wouldn’t come to me at first but then I scraped my thumbnail across the tines and in an instant he was at my feet meowing. I adore this boy.

Humans are so dumb somet…a lot of the time.
I took two of the kitties (Jasper & Rigby) out for a little touch grass time. They thought I said EAT grass and proceeded to do just that. They both freak out when I get out their harnesses and can hardly sit still long enough to put it on them.
The neighbor kitties came over too but they largely ignore our cats as they see them on the catio all the time and I think both teams have long said all of the hissing that was necessary. It was a very nice day outside away from the chaos indoors.
