Please RT for reach: Do I have anyone following who knows or knows someone who would know how to access old UK court records? I’m looking for a case that was eventually dismissed but was held at Southwark Crown Court in 1991 - 1992.
This store on etsy sells felt cicadas that come in a little tin with various plants and a little wooden bed so you can tuck the bug in for a nice nap.
This is just so cute. The shop name is little green fern, but it's also just a neat gift idea for the right sort of kid... or adult...

Has anyone seen Mr. Pierce McKoy near downtown Durham lately? He's the shoe shine guy who used to set up near Beyu Caffé downtown. Now he's usually near W. Main & Market St., or was last time I saw him. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Lst76qiHhQbMFD1N8 #local #Durham #DurhamNC #shoeShine #PierceMcKoy #DowntownDurham

I think my fellow Mastodonians may find this of interest.

I'm willing to accept the general de-nuanced views against smart glasses and those who profit, economically and in clout, from disparaging them and the people who make use of them.. I'm willing to accept that they're a cancer on society and I'm willing to accept violence against those who make them and use them. Under one condition. That you grant me this: I am fully blind. Anytime I go out in public, I am acutely aware that an overwhelming majority of people have at least one device on them with a camera. Their cameras and microphones could have disco lights going off every time they take a picture or start a recording and I'd be none the wiser. I do not know whether someone is taking pictures of me, videoing me, or even whether they are holding this machine in their hand or not. A train carriage full of people minding their business feels the exact same as a train carriage full of people pointing their evil anti-privacy, anti-blind machines at me. It does not make a difference whether they are big or small tech. It's absolutely trivial to turn any audible alert off. What's more, even if you do happen to have your GoodSmallTech™ made-in-the-EU ethical anti-AI anti-fascist anti-nazi phone's audible alerts at full volume, a selfie and a photo straight at my goddamn face sound the same to me. And you know what the funny part is? That I have no doubt, no damn doubt in the world, that people take pictures of me without my knowledge or consent at least somewhat regularly. I'm blind, I'm gallivanting around with a cute dog, crossing streets and going on trains... How inspiring, how interesting! And after all, I'm blind, so I'm not gonna notice! I firmly believe that at least a decently sized sector of the population does not assign the same level of personhood to a blind person, or probably any disabled person, than to "normals".
@Natasha_Jay I wonder if whatever AI that trump is using actually suggested public execution and it got it from this onion article? 😂 That would be insane but i would not be surprised at all at this point!
Healthcare worker use verbal judo against patients / advocates / consumers / patient's relatives.
I've been thrown by them multiple times.
Gathering examples and discussing the throws and possible responses may get us some ability to better push our cases.
Please contribute examples you've come across and/or useful responses to this thread.
Or do your own post with #HealthcareVerbalJudo
" ... my personal favourite “what do you expect us to do for you?”"
After reading that I'm going to start a thread about the verbal-cognitive judo that healthcare workers use against patients.
Looking for examples and considered possible replies.
Would love to see your favourite in the thread and see useful reply suggestions.

“If you’re really that sick you should be in the hospital”
Please stop saying this to chronically ill people.
If we went to the hospital every time we suffered, we would live there.
Hospitals can’t help us and they often make us worse.
We are on our own, and being subtly gaslit doesn’t help.
Instead of suggesting we aren’t “that sick” or that there’s care we’re choosing not to get … ask how you can help.
Show genuine concern and a desire to learn about life with chronic illness.
Understand that more often than not an ER trip means setbacks, trauma and no help at all.
Racist violent vigilante groups are in fact organized by abusive misogynists? Whoda thunk it! 🙄

I am in *awe* of the bravery of the women who are exposing this. They are putting themselves in danger, knowingly, having gone through the hell of being in abusive relationships with these men.
These women deserve our utmost gratitude, respect, and our undivided attention.
In case facts still matter…
kinda breathtaking to watch the U.S. media establishment lose its shit about one maybe-plague death in a Russian backwater town with 3,887 confirmed measles cases reported in the United States, SO FAR, in 2026
Kenya confirms first Ebola case as man dies in Nairobi after DRC return
More than 4,000 people have died in the worst outbreak in the DR Congo's history, with confirmed cases surpassing 8,300.

Yikes. They’re selling low dose lithium as an unregulated supplement now?!?
I don’t have a subscription to this site so idk which one has more lithium than it claims to, but this is alarming. I have heard of people using low dose lithium for long covid or other chronic illness, but I had no idea it was being sold as a “supplement” I assumed it was being compounded for prescriptions, like how low-dose naltrexone is used/sold.
